Goldfish Societies in the UK historically used different show standards. In 1989, delegates from several groups, including the Association of Midland Goldfish Keepers, Northern Goldfish & Pondkeepers Society, and Bristol Aquarists Society, agreed to create a unified standard for nationwide shows, aiming to provide consistency and a shared breeding goal.
It was agreed that the new Standards would be called “The Nationwide Goldfish Standards of Great Britain”.
