The Nationwide Goldfish Societies UK is holding its 10th National Fancy Goldfish Open Show on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Wyken Community Centre in Coventry. The show was created by the member societies of the Nationwide Goldfish Societies of the United Kingdom and takes place once a year in October. It's a place for amateur goldfish breeders and keepers from across the UK to show their fancy goldfish that have been bred to the Nationwide Goldfish Standards of the United Kingdom.
There are classes for Adult, Single Baby, and Teams of Four goldfish, as well as a class for other goldfish varieties that are not recognized by the standards. The entry fee is £1 per fish, payable by cash or cheque on the day of the show.
Show tanks will be provided, and only one fish is allowed per tank, with the exception of teams, which require four fish.
Fish will be judged according to the Nationwide Goldfish Standards of the United Kingdom.
Major prizes are only awarded to goldfish with a Nationwide standard.
Show fish must be benched by 12 noon, and judging will start promptly at 12:15 p.m..
The show committee reserves the right to refuse entries without explanation and can also refuse entry to or eject anyone who is deemed disruptive or unfit.
Photography is not allowed without the approval of the show committee.
You must get the show secretary's approval before removing any fish from the show bench.
The plastic tanks the fish are displayed in are for the duration of the show only and are not meant to be permanent homes for the fish. The health and welfare of the fish is of paramount importance to the show committee and exhibitors. If you have any concerns about a fish's welfare, you should report it to the show secretary as soon as possible.
Recipients of major awards must be present at the prize-giving ceremony to receive their award.
By entering the show, you agree to the show rules.
An auction will take place during the judging of the goldfish, where breeders can sell surplus fancy goldfish. This gives attendees an opportunity to buy quality line-bred fancy goldfish at a reasonable price.
Only full or affiliated members of the Nationwide Goldfish Societies can buy or sell fish at the auction. Affiliation membership can be purchased on the day of the show.
A limit of six tanks is guaranteed per seller, but more may be available on the day depending on availability. Sellers who require more than six tanks will have their additional entries added to the end of the auction lots.
Fish must not be placed in tanks until you have your allotted tank numbers.
The auction team reserves the right to refuse to sell any fish they consider unsuitable.
A 20% commission will be charged on auctioned lots.
The minimum bid is £5.00.
The auction runs on a cash or cheque basis only.
Sellers can place a reserve on their lots.
Benching and viewing of auction lots must be completed by 12:30 p.m., with the auction starting at 1:00 p.m..
No lots can be removed from the auction until payment has been made and an auction team member is present.
The official show entry form can be found in below. The closing date for entries is September 27, 2025. You can send the completed entry form to show secretary Andrew Barton at andrewbarton67@gmail.com. His telephone number is 07770 411419.
